Malteaser Cake

Do you like chocolate? Do you like cake? Do you like malteasers? (who doesn't!) then read on..

Over the weekend whilst I was off on my travels in Edinburgh, it was my friends birthday so I baked him this huge chocolate fudge and malteasers cake - the photo doesn't do it justice, it fed thirty people. I'm not joking. Though I'm a little annoyed I didn't get a photo on my proper camera, and so I'm afraid my instagram phone one will have to do. But the cake was just too good not to share the recipe for!

For the cake
  • 400 gram(s) Plain flour
  • 250 gram(s) Golden caster sugar
  • 100 gram(s) light muscovado sugar
  • 50 gram(s) cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon(s) baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon(s) bicarbonate of soda
  • ½ teaspoon(s) salt
  • 3 medium egg(s)
  • 1 tablespoon(s) vanilla extract
  • 175 gram(s) unsalted butter (melted and cooled)
  • 125 ml corn oil
  • 300 ml water (chilled)

I followed this recipe by the wonderful Nigella (so so good) but instead of making my own frosting as I was pushed for time, I used a ready made Betty Crocker chocolate fudge frosting tub, then dotted around the malteasers to decorate. Super simple, but very yummy!

Do let me know if you decide to make it, or if you've made a similar one before! Did everyone have a good weekend? I'm back now and recovering, catching up on much needed sleep, and getting back into the swing of university once more.

Thank you for leaving me comments, I love taking the time to read and appreciate each one!

However please don't ask me if I would like to follow you, or each other, I find it rude and it's clear you're not actually interested in reading what I have to say.

Though please do feel free to link me to your blog and I will quite happily take a look :)
